Let us know how you go when you have a look on your computer. I think the key to solving this is to work out why there a lack of lubrication in that area as you said. That's if lubrication is the problem. I will but unfortunately I can't find any specific to Rotax® . That leaves a lot to chance.

Hmmmm...I have to wonder if the crankshaft spun in the opposite direction , would the front side of the rear cylinder be the new candidate for severe scuffing ? Hmmmm....

Yes. The thrust side would be reversed.

Got your email. I can't remember the configuration of the Wisecos. Pretty sure they had 4 oil holes one at every 1/4 of the skirt?

The picture of the pistons you emailed have 5 oil holes? Are they JE pistons?

Yes. The thrust side would be reversed. So would the "splash" of oil .

So are you saying turn the crank around?

So are you saying turn the crank around? Ha Ha , no. Just observing if it rotated counterclockwise the downward slope @ the front of the rear cylinder would be shielded from the oil splash of the crank counterweight rather than the condition we have now.

Yep. It quietens down ever so slightly when warm but not much difference.

Ongoing Can Am piston slap issues : Had a lengthy conversation with the last place that worked on my bike . FPP ( www.fullpowerperformance.com/about-full-power-2/ ) was highly recommended by him . I spoke with Justin ( owner of FPP ) for about 45 minutes today . He seemed really interested in my situation . we talked about all the issues & he truly "listened" to me explain things . His shop has a full chassis dyno & he does custom tunes . But what Mr.Cooper didn't tell me was : he is a full-on Rotax performance GuRu ! He basically told me he can go as far with this as I want . I may just give him the bike as it sits & tell him to go ahead & do your magic .....
