Hi all,
After changing the oil in the front diff I noticed that there is an oil leak where the driveshaft enter the diff. I have a fair idea of how to replace it, I have the wear ring and seal but I'm a little concerned about installing and removing the wear ring. How hard is it to do? Is there trick to doing it?
Cheers.

How bad is the groove in the ring ? I have touched mine up with Emery cloth wrung around in my hands . If it's deep enough to catch your fingernail in , you should probably replace it . I cut mine off with a Dremel & tapped mine on after warming the ring in hot water . I found a piece of copper that was the ID of the shaft OD .But they're supposed to be pressed on . Thing is , be sure to scribe a mark on the shaft where the old one was so you don't go too far .

I remember back on Can Am talk , Shortmag spoke of a Speedy Sleeve which is a very thin stainless sleeve with a shoulder on one end that's designed to slide over the existing wear ring & provide a new surface for the new deal to ride on.

Just wondering, When removing the driveshaft and coupling sleeve does the wear ring come out with these or is it located further in the diff?

When removing the driveshaft and coupling sleeve does the wear ring come out with these or is it located further in the diff? It will seem that the ring is "part" of the coupling-sleeve as it's pressed on & is a really tight fit .. It "should" still be attached to the forward end of the sleeve so to ride on the inner diameter of the seal when it's installed . If you show me a pic of the sleeve while it's out , I can highlight the portion you want to remove .

Once you get the old one off , I'd put the sleeve in the freezer for a few hours and plop the ring in a pot of hot water before trying to press them together .

Didn't get around to doing it today. Mate asked me if I wanted to go for a hunt, I couldn't refuse.

I haven't got my lazy arse into gear yet. The leak isn't bad it doesn't even make a mess of the floor. Been really busy with our farm.
