Hi all,
Went for my usually Sunday ride in my normal riding area which happens to be 63000 acres of state forest and where always finding new tracks. The terrain is mostly flat with small grade inclines nothing to exciting. We happened to come across a steep looking track which traversed a mountain, the track consisted of ruts about 8-10 inches deep very loose rocky shale and at an incline of about 38-40 degrees. I went up first with the renegade in 4 Low it crawled up surprisingly well, I reached about three quarters of the way up the hill still making slow progress I then looked about 20m in front of me the there was not more track!! just big thick trees and big boulders it was impassable. No signage at the bottom of the track, who puts a track on a steep hill that only goes three quarters of the way up? Anyway, I'm on a 40 degree angle obviously can't turn around way to steep and my mate on his Suzuki just behind me, no choice but to reverse which caused me to slip side ways towards a even steeper country off the track at that point I was %##$ myself. I ended up rolling back into a tree off the track which stopped the bike from rolling, we then lifted the front around to face the bike side ways on the hill at this point we had the snatch strap around the frame and on a tree we eventually faced the bike in the right direction (down) with out tipping it. I then drove back down the hill in low range and parked the bike on flat ground. We still weren't done an hour later! I had to walk back up which took me 20 min as it was 34 degrees and I had to have 5 breaks! that gives you an idea how steep it was. We then got the Suzuki back down which was easier, my mate sat on the from rack while I reversed back down very sketchy!
Very lucky to come out of that with no damage!
